COVID SAFE PLAN FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR STAFF & GUESTS
Thanks to King Island's remote location in Bass Strait, naturally ventilated open spaces, small, decentrallised population and community awareness of our risks, King Island is a safe place. King Island Green Ponds is positioned in a large open garden, has wide outdoor verandahs and private rooms. The Cottage is also in a private garden with outdoor facilities. King Island Green Ponds accommodation is in a good position to provide a safe environment for our guests to enjoy and our staff to work in.
As well as all the recommended government health recommendations, we have put into place a Covid-19 Safety Plan and many additional procedures to minimise the risk of Covid-19 transmission. A comprehensive risk assessment and plan has been developed in consultation with industry associations, King Island Chamber of Commerce, King Island Regional Development (KIRDO). King Island Tourism and staff.
Measures to reduce transmission, include but are not limited to:
-
Advising all guests and staff NOT to visit if experiencing any Covid symptoms or if potentially having been exposed to the virus.
-
Maintaining up-to-date and thorough contact tracing records.
-
Training to understand what the symptoms of Covid-19 are.
-
Training in best cleaning & hygiene practice.
-
Displaying safety and hygiene posters to remind everyone of safe hygiene practices.
-
Changing check-in procedures to minimise guest contact and maintain safe social distancing.
-
Adhering to government guidelines with regards to social distancing, group sizes room and shared space density (1 person per 2 square metres)
-
No contact breakfast and meals and 'treats' from the oven to minimise contact
-
Controlled entrance/exit to minimise contact.
-
Placing hand, spray sanitiser, paper towels and closed covered bins in key locations, for staff and guest use.
-
Increased and better documented cleaning and hygiene routines using recommended cleaning and disinfecting products.
-
Enhanced disinfecting of 'touch surfaces' and rotation of items to reduce possibility of transmission.
-
Encouraging staff and guests to install Covid-safe App.
-
Subject to Tasmanian regulations, mask wearing is not required. However, where social distancing is not possible, if a visitor chooses/prefers to wear a mask, this would not be discouraged.
We are committed to the healthy and safety of our staff, guests, and the community and encourage any suggestions as to how we can change our operations to improve this.
